Questions people ask
What is Dangle?
Dangle is a free app for Windows and Android that hangs a small charm from the top of your screen on a real, physics-driven rope. It stays perfectly still until you touch it; then it swings, settles, and makes its own little sound.
Is Dangle a desktop pet?
Close to one. Like a desktop pet it lives on top of your apps and reacts when you play with it, but instead of wandering around it hangs quietly from the top of your screen and only moves when you touch it, so it never gets in the way.
Is Dangle free?
Yes. Every charm and every feature is free, with no ads and no account. Adopting a charm on this website is an optional way to support Dangle and unlocks nothing.
Which devices does Dangle run on?
Windows 10 and Windows 11, on both x64 and ARM64 PCs, and Android 8 and newer.
How many charms does Dangle have?
149 built-in charms in 21 collections: protection charms such as the Nazar and Nimbu-mirchi, Marvel and DC tributes, God of War, festivals, Tamil everyday life, food, space and more. You can also make your own charm from any picture.
Will Dangle get in the way of my work or games?
No. It only reacts when you touch the charm itself, it hides by itself while a game or video is full screen, and it pauses its small animations when your laptop is on battery.
Why does Windows show a warning when I install Dangle?
The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC" the first time. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Dangle collects no data; the only thing it ever asks the internet for is whether a new version is out.
How does Dangle update?
By itself. On Windows, open About, choose Check for updates, then Download and restart. On Android, choose Install in About and confirm once.
Can I make my own charm?
Yes. Give Dangle any picture, such as your pet, a sticker or a logo. It lifts the picture off a plain background, adds a brass ring, and hangs it. You can try it on this page under Make your own.
